Taylor is King!
Antigo, WI - Taylor Scheffler was crowned King of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour King of the Northwoods in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane at Langlade County Speedway. Andy Karl and Scheffler led the field to the green flag, with Karl leading the first couple of laps. Scheffler took the lead as he raced to the inside of Karl as they came out of turn four on lap three. Scheffler continued to lead, pulling away from Karl until caution slowed the field on lap ten, as Troy Springborn folded his nose under.
On the restart, Scheffler led Karl, Brett Swedberg Lukas Postl and Nick Anvelink to the green flag. Swedberg broke a driveshaft, spinning on the backstretch, bringing out the caution. Scheffler pulled to a healthy advantage over Postl, with Anvelink close behind. Scheffler gave up a half straightaway lead when the caution flew on lap fifteen, when smoke erupted from the sixth place car of Turk Letizia.
Scheffler led Postl and Anvelink to the green flag, with Anvelink trying to work around the top side of the track, passing Postl, but Scheffler was out of reach. Scheffler continued to pull away from Anvelink as they pulled further away from Postl.
Anvelink slowed with a flat tire on lap twenty, bringing out the final caution of the night. Scheffler lead the field back to green with Postl, Bill Edler and Jayme Zidar in pursuit. Scheffler was able to pull away, cruising to his second WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour win of the season. Postl was second followed by Edler, Zidar and Chris Oertel.
