Dustin is King!

Spring Valley, MN - Dustin Sorensen was crowned King of the Deer Creek 40 presented by Sherwin Williams in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane at Deer Creek Speedway.  Sorensen led the field in qualifying, with a 15.073 second lap and won his heat, making him eligible for the re-draw and was the Ken’s Sports Pole Sitter.  At the start of the Deer Creek 40, Sorensen took the lead with Tyler Bruening and Nick Anvelink battling for second.  On the next lap, Bruening looked to the inside of Sorensen, but Sorensen was able to hold on as the caution came out.  Bruening continued to challenge Sorensen for the lead until caution slowed the field a few laps later.    Anvelink challenged Bruening for second spot while Sorensen led and started to stretch out his lead.  Just before halfway, the leaders approached the tail end of the field.  Sorensen continued to worked his way through traffic and maintained his advantage over Bruening.  On lap 28, Sorensen spun as he was trying to lap Taylor Scheffler, bringing out the caution with just 12 laps to go.  Scheffler tapped out, allowing Sorensen to keep the lead.  Sorensen had Bruening, Anvelink and James Giossi battling for second behind him on the restart, allowing him to increase his lead.  Sorensen went on to win his second WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour race.  Bruening finished second followed by Anvelink, Giossi and Troy Springborn.
