Brett is King!

Wilmot, WI - After a four-year absence, the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour returned to Wilmot Raceway on Saturday night, bringing the Tour back to the historic facility for the first time since 2022.

The return was a welcome one, with the Dirt Kings Tour receiving an incredible reception from the Wilmot Raceway faithful. From the outstanding facility to the enthusiastic fans filling the grandstands and the dedicated team of people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make race nights happen, Wilmot once again proved why it is such a special place to go racing.

Nick Anvelink was the Champ Pans Fast Qualifier for the Fall Classic, with a 14.923 second lap but after turning the fastest lap of the night, Anvelink suffered a transmission issue, causing him to miss his heat race.

Turk Letizia was the Ken's Sports Inc. Pole Sitter, leading the field to the green flag alongside Taylor Scheffler. Scheffler took the lead as Letizia settling into second. Brett Swedberg battled with Letizia for the second allowing Scheffler to put some distance between them.

Caution slowed the field on lap ten, erasing the 4.267 second lead Scheffler had built up. On the restart, Scheffler pulled ahead with Letizia and Swedberg continuing the battle for the second spot. At the halfway point, Scheffler held a 2.827 second advantage over Letizia, which continued to increase as the battle for second continued.

With ten laps to go, Scheffler had a full straighaway lead over Letizia and Swedberg with Lukas Postl and Anvelink rounding out the top five. Scheffler was approaching the tail end of the field when Letizia brought out the caution for an engine failure on lap 21, while he was running in second. On the restart, Scheffler broke entering turn two, bringing out another caution.

Swedberg led the field to the green flag with nine laps to go as Anvelink advanced to second. Swedberg had a 1.338 second lead on Anvelink when Bill Rezutek brought out the caution with seven laps to go.

Swedberg maintained his advantage on the restart with Anvelink, Postl, Justin Ritchie and Chris Oertel behind him. With the laps winding down, Swedberg held a .843 second advantage over Anvelink. Anvelink tried a run on the inside of Swedberg out of turn four coming to the checkered flag, but Swedberg was able to hold him off, finishing .522 seconds ahead of Anvelink.

Swedberg was crowned King for the third time this season, taking home $3300 for the win in the Fall Classic. Swedberg celebrated with his team in BMRE Electrick Carts Co. Victory Lane.

Anvelink, Postl, Ritchie and Oertel rounded out the top five.

The WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour concluded the 2026 with a Double Header Weekend at Luxy Raceway for the Battle by the Bay on Friday, September 18 and at 141 Speedway for the 9th Annual Jim Wildman Watson Classic at 141 Speedway on Saturday, September 19.
