Jesse Glenz is King!
Maribel, WI - Jesse Glenz became the first repeat winner of the crown jewel of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour, winning The Diamond 48 at 141 Speedway. Glenz was crowned King in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane for his second WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour victory. Troy Springborn and Glenz led the field to the green of the 48-lap race, with Glenz moving around Springborn as they raced out of turn two and down the backstretch. Glenz had a .546 second advantage as they crossed the stripe to finish lap one. Glenz continued to pace the field, stretching his lead to 3.275 seconds, until the caution came out on lap seven. This turned out to be the only caution of the night. Glenz was strong on the restart, keeping the lead as Joel Bennett took second spot from Springborn with Cole Czarneski and Brett Swedberg close behind.
Glenz pulled away from Bennett and continued to stretch his lead to 4.213 seconds on lap 13 and then had to work his way through the tail end of the field. Bennett, Czarneski, Chris Oertel and Jake Timm followed Glenz, as he continued to extend his lead. Even working through the tail end of the field did not slow down Glenz, who won The Diamond 42 at Plymouth Dirt Track Racing in 2020.
At the halfway point, Glenz held a 4.108 second lead over Bennett, followed by Timm, Oertel and Nick Anvelink. With racing all around the track, Glenz exhibited patience as he worked his way through the field and at times extending his lead to 5.329 seconds over Bennett.
With the white flag in the air, Glenz held a 3.054 second lead over Bennett and went on to finish 2.888 seconds ahead to claim his second WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour victory. Bennett finished second, followed by Oertel, Anvelink and Springborn.
After being crowned King in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane, Glenz had a little taste of the infield pond at 141 Speedway.
For the past nine seasons, the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour has honored the life and legacy of Diamond Jim Letizia with the The Diamond race, a race that demands everything. Legacy. Pride. Bragging rights. Each year the stakes are higher. The Diamond 49 will return in 2027 - don’t miss it.
The double header weekend for the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour continues on Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway for the King of the Park.
