Nick is King!

Shawano, WI - Nick Anvelink was crowned King of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Lumberyard Bar & Grill Spring Thaw in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane at Shawano Speedway. Anvelink won his heat and was the Ken's Sport Pole Sitter for the 25-lap A-Main. Anvelink and Taylor Scheffler led the field to the green flag, with Anvelink taking the lead with Scheffler, Joel Bennett and Todd Frank in pursuit. Caution flew on the next lap as Bill Edler and Derek Janke made contact in turn four. On the restart, Anvelink continued to lead as Scheffler and Frank made contact in turn two bringing out the caution as Frank came to a stop in the middle of the track as the field tried to avoid, but Gunner Frank had nowhere to go, ending his night, as well as Todd Frank's night, brining out the red flag.

On the restart, Anvelink continued to pace the field as Joel Bennett, Troy Springborn and Mullen pursued Anvelink. Anvelink pulled away to a 4.603 second lead on Bennett and started to lap the tail of the field. Bennett worked to narrow the gap on Anvelink as the caution came out just past halfway. Springborn worked to the inside of Bennett on the restart as Anvelink continued to lead. Anvelink had a two second lead on Springborn with Bennett, Ron Berna and Mike Mullen behind with just seven laps to go.

Anvelink went on to win his first WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour race of the season, with Springborn, Bennett, Berna and Mullen rounding out the top five.
