Nick is King!
Plymouth, WI - Nick Anvelink was crowned King of the 6th Annual Jim W1ldman Watson Classic in BMRE Electrick Carts Victory Lane and secured his 6th WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Championship. Sawyer Specht and Mitch McGrath led the field to the green flag, with McGrath leading the first lap. McGrath and Specht raced side-by-side for the lead until caution slowed the race on lap three. On the restart, Anvelink challenged McGrath for the lead as they raced through turns one and two and down the backstretch, with McGrath pulling ahead and maintaining the lead. Caution slowed the field one lap later, on the restart, Jordan Yaggy advanced to second with Anvelink, Kyle Raddant and Justin Ritchie rounding out the top five.
At the halfway point, McGrath continue to lead utilizing the bottom of the track with Anvelink, Yaggy and Raddant in pursuit, while working through the tail end of the field. Anvelink worked through traffic a little better than McGrath, cutting more than a half second off McGrath's lead before the caution came out with just 8 laps to go.
On the restart, Anvelink worked his way to the outside of McGrath and took the lead as they raced down the backstretch. Anvelink continued to lead the rest of the way, finishing .747 seconds ahead of McGrath. Yaggy, Bill Edler and Brett Swedberg rounded out the top five.
For Anvelink, the 6th Annual Jim W1ldman Watson Classic was his 25th WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour victory, his second W1ldman Watson Classic victory, his first at Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and also the third time Anvelink was crowned King and Champion the same night.
