Brett is King!

Seymour, WI - Brett Swedberg was crowned King of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Mid-Summer Showdown in BMRE Electrick Carts Co Victory Lane at Outagamie Speedway. Swedberg was the Ken’s Sports Inc. Pole Sitter leading the field to the green flag alongside Nick Anvelink. Swedberg and Anvelink raced side by side with Swedberg taking the lead, but Anvelink battled for the lead trying to pass Swedberg on the top of the track. Anvelink had a run on Swedberg as the raced down the front stretch but Swedberg shut the door as they crossed the start finish line to complete lap three. Swedberg continued to hold off challenges from Anvelink for the next couple of laps, then pulled away to a .1.063 second lead before caution slowed the field on lap eight.

On the restart, Swedberg held off Anvelink who dove to the inside to try and take the lead, but Swedberg prevailed. Caution slowed the field a lap later setting up another restart, but Swedberg was strong on the outside, pulling away from Anvelink by 2.525 seconds at halfway.

With ten laps to go, Swedberg approached the tail end of the field and had to navigate through traffic, allowing Anvelink to close the gap, but he wasn’t able to challenge for the lead again. Swedberg went on to finish 1.578 seconds ahead of Anvelink, followed by Justin Ritchie, Lukas Postl and Taylor Scheffler.

The WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour continues the Double Header weekend at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay for the King of the Fair, the 100th race in series history.
